More than 91,000 pounds of raw ground turkey is being recalled over a widespread salmonella outbreak that could be linked to Jennie-O products, the United States Department of Agriculture said in a news release Friday (Nov. 16).
The USDA’s announcement came a week before the Thanksgiving, but doesn’t include the turkeys typically prepared during the holiday.
According to CBS News, one person died and 164 people reported illnesses. At least half of those who fell ill had to be hospitalized in the ongoing outbreak that has reportedly affected 35 states thus far.
The products in question were produced on Sept. 11, 2018 and feature the “P-190” USDA inspection mark, with use by dates of 10/1/2018 to 10/2/2018.
